Between Namibia’s secluded Kaokoland and the famed Skeleton Coast, lies Palmwag Lodge and Camp. Amid swaying makalani palms and robust mopane trees nourished by underground water, the lodge overlooks the sweeping northern Damaraland landscape peppered with green euphorbias. 22 modern rooms offer all you will need during this holiday in one of Africa’s last wildernesses.

Feel the freedom of this remote north-western corner of Namibia, a refuge for black rhino and lion, and home to the famous desert adapted elephant that follow the ephemeral rivers spanning the land like arteries of life.

Join a guided hike, a day or morning of exploration, a sleep-out or a sundowner drive in the 582 000-hectare Palmwag Concession, a vast conservation area with an abundance of wildlife. Palmwag collaborates with neighbouring conservancies, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism and Save the Rhino Trust to safeguard this rich wild heritage. Join them for rhino tracking on foot to witness the astounding beauty of these magnificent animals.

Guided Morning Hike (5km)

Get to know the smaller wildlife and flora of Damaraland on a hike with an experienced guide. Departure: ±7:00 AM Duration: ± 3 hours Distance: ± 5 km

Half Day Nature Drive (guided)

Explore the amazing wildlife of the Palmwag Concession including rhino, desert elephants and the largest predator population outside the Etosha National Park during a guided morning or afternoon Nature Drive. Refreshments and light snacks are included. AM Departure: ± 7:00 AM PM Departure: ± 3 hours before sunset Duration: ± 3 hours

Full Day Damaraland Excursion

This full-day guided scenic drive in the Palmwag Concession is the best way to to experience Damaraland flora and fauna. Departure: ± 7:00 AM at Palmwag Lodge reception Duration: full day Note: minimum of 4 persons per excursion

Guided Morning Hike (2km)

Half Day Rhino Tracking (guided)

Rely on your experienced guide and follow the tracks of the black rhino. An open game drive vehicle brings you into the Palmwag Concession area. The rhino tracking is done on foot. Please note that this activity is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Departure: between 6h00 and 6h30 AM at Palmwag Lodge reception, depending on the season. Duration: half-day Note: minimum of 2 persons per excursion,

Under Canvas Sleep-out in a tent

An adventurous outing for 2 to 8 persons. A guided scenic drive takes you to a tented camp in the Palmwag Concession area, where you spend the night. Sit at the camp fire, gaze at the stars and enjoy your dinner. All meals and beverages during the sleep-out as well as the guide, vehicle, camping equipment, game drive, and walk are included. Please note that this activity is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Departure: 15:30 Duration: overnight (you will return to the lodge at 11:00) Note: minimum 2 persons, maximum 8 persons
