Lodge Overview

Sixty kilometres from Sesriem and Sossusvlei, the Namib Desert Campsite is a secret retreat far from the hustle and bustle of the busier campsites. Three campsites offer the best location to explore the burnished sands of Sossusvlei and return to experience fathomless Namib peace.

Namib Desert Lodge is a five kilometre drive further for those who want to indulge in lodge comforts – two cool pools and a scrumptious meal. Or to sit back and join a guided nature drive into the spectacular landscape, letting someone else take the wheel.

The campsites are fitted with private barbecue areas and shared bathroom facilities and running water. For those nature-lovers who have had their fill of civilisation, stretch out in your camp chair with a view of the ancient ridge of fossilised sand dunes. The space and silence of the Namib Desert are the highlights of this simple campsite set under the acacia trees.

Explore the surrounding areas and the vibrant stories that unfold. Solitaire, about thirty kilometres away, offers the perfect spot to stretch your legs and enjoy the quirky setting in the middle of the desert. Head back to your campsite and unwind around a fire, as it crackles away drink in the ancient land and infinite star-studded Namibian night sky.

Afternoon Nature Drive

Discover the fossilised dunes, the red dunes above the plateau and the many wonders of the Namib Desert on this guided drive around Gondwana Namib Park. Refreshments and a light snack included. Departure: ± 2 hours before sunset at Namib Desert Lodge (reception) Duration: ± 2 - 3 hours Note: minimum 4 persons

Desert Night Walk (guided)

Prepare to be amazed by the sight of nocturnal desert creatures on a short, guided night walk (±45 min) after dinner. No refreshments or snacks offered. This activity is bookable directly at the lodge only. Departure: after dinner at Namib Desert Lodge (reception) Duration: ± 45 minutes

Sossusvlei Excursion (guided)

Enjoy a guided half-day excursion to the highest dunes on Earth at Sossusvlei. They form part of the spectacular Namib Sand Sea, which was declared a World Heritage site in 2013. Including brunch, refreshments, and entrance fees to the National Park. Prebooking is essential. Departure: 1 hour before sunrise at Namib Desert Lodge (reception) Duration: ± 5 - 6 hours

Hiking Trails (self-guided)
