These seven carefully crafted chalets offer expansive views of the desert vista that will take your breath away. A seven kilometre drive from the main lodge, the Eagle's Nest chalets are private self-catering retreats, each built individually, combining natural elements and boulders into their interiors in a rustic and luxurious blend. Choose whether to cook in the kitchen, on the fire or to eat in the restaurant of the Desert Horse Inn; take-away breakfast or barbecue packs are available on request.

On the outskirts of Aus, about 100km east of Lüderitz and the diamond town Kolmanskop, the Eagle's Nest is an attractive base for those who want to explore southwestern Namibia, appreciate boundless space, and a sense of the land and privacy. Children are most welcome at all our venues. Children up to 5 years old are free of charge; for children between the age of 6 and 13 years we charge 50 per cent of the B&B rate. For teenagers 13 years and older we charge the adult rates.

Hiking Trails (self-guided)

Explore the flora and fauna of the Succulent Karoo desert on your own. You have five different hiking trails to choose from. They are well marked and take you through the wildly romantic scenery of the Aus Mountains. Departure: In your own time Duration: ± 2 - 5 hours

Scenic Sunset Drive (guided)

These drives in the late afternoon present an opportunity to experience the incredible scenic beauty of Gondwana Sperrgebiet Rand Park at dusk. Departure: Afternoon Duration: ± 3 hours Note: minimum of 3 persons per excursion

Half Day Desert Tour (guided)

Discover the delights and impressive scenery of the Succulent Karoo Desert on this half day trip to Kubub and Gondwana Sperrgebiet Rand Park. Departure: Morning | Afternoon Duration: half-day Note: minimum of 4 persons per excursion

Day trip to Lüderitz and Kolmanskop (self-guided)

Lüderitz is just 120 km away and the ghost town of Kolmanskop only 115 km (tar road). Klein-Aus Vista is the ideal starting point for a trip to both places. Only 20 km from Aus, on the way to or back from Lüderitz, visit the Garub water hole where the wild horses and several other animals of the desert plains can be found. The Wild Horses of the Namib have roamed this harsh habitat since 1915 and are an experience one should not miss.

Mountain Biking (self-guided)

There is a choice of different routes on well marked trails: varying from 20 km to 80 km - mostly single track trails, recommended for riders with intermediate skills. Dual suspension bikes available for rent.. E-bikes are also available, rates are available on request.
